Tatsuya Nakatani, born on January 20, 1970 in Osaka, Japan, is a jazz and improvisation musician. He worked in the United States in the late 1990s, where he performed with ensembles led by Curt Newton, Dan DeChellis, Greg Kelly and Michael Bullock. He later joined Assif Tsahar’s New York Underground Orchestra and collaborated with Billy Bang, Mary Halvorson, Nate Wooley’s Blue Collar and the Glasgow Improvisers Orchestra, while forming duos with Peter Kowald (13 Definitions of Truth), Kaoru Watanabe, Eugene Chadbourne and Michel Doneda (White Stone Black Lamp). His discography includes Primal Communication (2007), The Unknowable (2018) with Adam Rudolph and Dave Liebman, and Interactivity (2020) with Shane Parish.
