Jim Hermsen, known professionally as Tha Playah, is a Dutch mainstream hardcore DJ and music producer. Born June 23, 1982 in Nijmegen, Netherlands, Hermsen began DJing in the mid-1990s and started composing music in 2000. In 2002, the producer signed with Neophyte Records, releasing the debut single “Hit 'Em” (2002), followed by the single “Weird Shit” (2003) and the EP Fuck tha Fame (2004). Hermsen's debut studio album, Walking the Line, was released in 2009, following the EPs The Greatest Clits (2006) and Enter the Time Machine (2006). Subsequent releases include the single “Cold as Me” (2008), recorded with Evil Activities, and the EP Dicks, Pussy's and Assholes (2010). In July 2019, the DJ launched the record label State of Anarchy, releasing the studio album Sick and Twisted (2019). Throughout a career, the musician performed at major electronic music festivals such as A Nightmare in Rotterdam, Hellraiser, and Decibel, and was inducted into the Thunderdome Hall of Fame.
