Washington Dead Cats is a French rock group formed in 1984 that blended rockabilly and punk influences. The group initially included Mat Firehair, Tom Carasko, X-Lior, Masto and François Mosnier, alias Frank Darlock. They signed with Bondage Records and released their debut album Go Vegetables Go! in 1986, followed by Gore A'Billy Boogie! in 1988. Known for their energetic performances and anti-fascist stance, the band's unique style earned them the label "punkabilly". After a period of inactivity during the 1990s, they returned in the early 2000s with albums like Treat Me Bad (2003) and El Diablo is Back! (2006). Their 2013 album Primitive Girls are More Fun! reached the top 20 of the French rock charts. The band performed extensively across Europe, releasing notable live albums such as Live Under the Creole Moon (2017) and studio albums like Monkey Brain (2022).
