Mondo Rock, an Australian rock band from Melbourne, was formed in November 1976 by Ross Wilson, the former frontman of Daddy Cool, who provided lead vocals, guitar, and harmonica. Their first significant single, "State of the Heart", peaked at number 6 on the Australian Kent Music Report in 1980, and the follow‑up "Cool World" reached number 8 in 1981. The debut album Primal Park (1979) had modest chart success, but the 1981 release Chemistry reached number 2 on the same chart, cementing the group’s popularity; singles from that album included "Chemistry", which reached number 20, and "Summer of '81", which hit number 31. Subsequent studio albums include Nuovo Mondo (1982), The Modern Bop (1984), Boom Baby Boom (1986), and Why Fight It (1990), which were released under major labels such as WEA and Polydor. The band disbanded in 1991, with Wilson pursuing a solo career, but reunited in 2014 to perform the album Chemistry and released the live album Summer of '81, Live at the Pier in 2020.
