Kids of 88, a New Zealand new wave duo from Auckland, consisted of Jordan Arts (programming/keyboards) and Sam McCarthy (vocals), formed in 2008 after a decade of friendship and earlier band experience at St Peter's College. Their breakthrough came with the 2009 single "My House". In 2010, they released the album Sugarpills. The album's single "Just a Little Bit" earned Single of the Year and Music Video of the Year at the 2010 New Zealand Music Awards. They toured New Zealand, Australia, and Europe, supported Ke$ha, and later released the second album Modern Love in . In 2014, the duo announced the conclusion of the Kids of 88 project.
