Orquesta Narváez, a salsa orchestra from Bushwick, Brooklyn, New York, was formed by Dewell Narváez when he was 14. The band's breakthrough came when they were discovered by promoter Richie Bonilla and signed to Tico Records in 1974. Their debut album Reincarnation was released in 1975, featuring notable tracks such as "Sabiduría", "El Malo", and the title track "Reincarnation". During this period, they collaborated with country singer Freddy Fender on songs like "Camarón" and "Hombre". However, Tico Records was sold to Fania Records before further albums could be released. The band disbanded shortly after, with rumors of a plane crash debunked by Narváez. In 2013, Orquesta Narváez reunited for the album 65 Infantería, named after the Puerto Rican regiment that served in World War I and II. The album included tracks like "Vamos a Gozar" and "Seguiré Cantando".
