The Jerry Cans is a band from Iqaluit, Nunavut and initially consisted of Andrew Morrison, Brendan Doherty, and Steve Rigby, who met while studying in Peterborough, Ontario. Their debut album Nunvauttitut was released in 2012 and the band gained wider attention after Tanya Tagaq won the Polaris Music Prize in 2014. Their third album, Inuusiq/Life, produced by Michael Phillip Wojewoda, was released in 2016 on Aakuluk Music, a label established by the band to support Inuit and Indigenous musicians. The Jerry Cans have toured extensively across Canada and internationally. In 2017, they organized the first Nunavut Music Week and their fourth album, Echoes, followed in 2020.
