Camerata Trajectina, a Dutch ensemble specializing in early music, was founded in 1974 in Utrecht by Jan Nuchelmans and Jos van Veldhoven. Under the artistic direction of Louis Peter Grijp, it became known for historically informed programs centered on Dutch repertoire spanning the Middle Ages through the Golden Age. The ensemble has performed hundreds of concerts across the Netherlands, Flanders, and much of Europe, as well as in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Indonesia, and Ghana. It has also released six LPs and, as of 2023, over 40 CDs dedicated to Dutch music. Recordings include Middeleeuwse musiek uit de Nederlanden (Medieval Music from the Netherlands) and Van Varen en Vechten (Of Sailing and Fighting), featuring songs associated with the Dutch East India Company. The ensemble received the Edison Klassiek in 2006 for Antwerps liedboek (Antwerp Songbook) and the Visser-Neerlandia Prize in 2014.
