The music of Sidewalk Driver is high energy, highly-infectious, hook-driven, Rock with a capital ‘R.’ The sound is modern but the heart of the band seems to be more in line with 1970s rock culture… the Bowies and the Belushis of the world. Lead singer Tad McKitterick’s voice has power and clarity, is expressive without falling off the pitch and is forceful without losing subtle moments. Guitarists Kate Murdoch and Jared Egan seamlessly weave crunchy rhythms with soaring solos while bassist Jonn Smith and drummer A.J. Locke hold down the bottom end. The songs always come with some odd bent but not one that repels; rather, they welcome you to join in the celebration like a carnival barker hyping a freak show.
Sidewalk Driver has provided direct support for an eclectic blend of national acts—including Bon Jovi, The B-52s, Spacehog, Twenty One Pilots, Andrew W.K., and Electric Six—winning over a wide variety of audiences with each performance by injecting humor and fun into their high-octane rock show.
Led by chrome-domed, platform-booted frontman Tad McKitterick, Sidewalk Driver is a band of cheeky culture vultures who like to name-check ABBA, Frank Black, and Baryshnikov in songs, but never forget to fuel their dance-floor fun with rock ’n’ roll fire — not to mention glitter-encrusted hooks galore. Call it glam, call it power pop, we’re calling it hard to beat.- Jonathan Perry, Boston Globe
Sidewalk Driver plays big, bold, unhinged rock ’n’ roll. Oh, sure, the band knows how to use nuance and dynamics to ensure its melodies never get crushed in the tornado of excess and enthusiasm. But see the quintet in concert and you’ll get swept up in glitter, glam and arena rock showmanship on a punk-at-the-local-club budget.- Jed Gottlieb, Boston Herald
Come showtime, Sidewalk Driver did what they do best: worked their glorious confetti and power chord magic to make the audience swoon. Isn’t that what they always do? Hell yes, it is. This band lives to entertain.- Johnny Anguish, Daykamp Music
We’d be hard-pressed to think of another hook-driven, hit machine better than Sidewalk Driver. This band is fun with a capital “F” and should be blasting pool-side all summer long. [You’ve] got to love this band’s unique brand of electric power pop and their ability to embrace their inner weirdos with open arms.- Victoria Wasylak, Howl Magazine
