Psychofagist, an Italian avant-garde grindcore band formed in 2002 in Novara, Italy. The group initially gained traction with their debut split-CD Selfless Spite in 2003, featuring Belgian grindcore band Hybrid Viscery. Their first full-length album, Psychofagist, was released in 2004. Subsequent albums include Il Secondo Tragico (2009) and Songs of Faint and Distortion (2013). The band also collaborated on other split releases, notably with OvO and Inferno for A Bullet Sounds the Same and Polish industrial-grinders Antigama for 9 Psalms of an Anti-music to Come in 2012. Psychofagist performed around 140 shows, including international festivals and shared stages with acts like Brutal Truth and Extreme Noise Terror. The band disbanded in 2013.
