David Anthony Temple, born in 1954, is a British conductor and musical director of Crouch End Festival Chorus and Hertfordshire Chorus. He moved to London in 1972 and joined the London Philharmonic Choir, singing as a tenor under chorus master John Alldis. In 1984, Temple began his work with the newly formed Crouch End Festival Chorus as its musical director. He has conducted at venues including the Barbican Centre, Royal Festival Hall, Symphony Hall (Birmingham), Royal Albert Hall, Sage Gateshead, The Roundhouse, Snape Maltings, and St Albans Cathedral. Notable collaborations include working closely with Ray Davies of The Kinks on The Flatlands and performing “The Village Green Preservation Society” at Royal Festival Hall with the London Philharmonic Orchestra and the Crouch End Festival Chorus. Temple recorded Bach’s St John Passion (in English) for Chandos Records in 2016, released in 2017. He was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2018 New Year Honours for services to music.
