For Jimmy Whoo, music starts with instinct. Hailing from Pantin, a northeastern suburb of Paris, the composer and producer has spent over a decade developing a free and distinctive sonic language. Shaped by travel, cinema, and his connection to the city, his music moves between dreamlike compositions, urban rhythms, textured synths, and drum machines.
This freedom found a home at Grande Ville Studio, which he founded in Montreuil in 2013 and which quickly became a hub for Paris’s underground scene. From his debut project Chambre 51 to the Motel Music trilogy, now emblematic of his signature sound, Jimmy Whoo has carved out a path of his own, marked by collaborations with artists from a wide range of creative backgrounds, including Chilly Gonzales, Bonnie Banane, Alsy, Lomboy, A.CHAL and Muddy Monk. In 2023, he teamed up with Johnny Jewel (Chromatics), one of his early inspirations, and Desire to release “Parisian Time” on Italians Do It Better.
His lifelong fascination with film scores has since come full circle: he now regularly composes for cinema and contemporary art. Alongside Yann Rose, he scored Ghost Song, a documentary by Nicolas Peduzzi presented at the Cannes Film Festival as part of the ACID selection.
Jimmy Whoo now opens a new chapter with “In This World” (feat. Oko Ebombo), set for release on October 23, 2026. Blending nostalgia, hope, and friendship, the song offers the first glimpse of his upcoming album.
