Barnard Franklin "Barney" Bentall, born on March 14, 1956, in Toronto, Ontario, is a Canadian pop/rock singer-songwriter. Bentall began his music career with Barney Bentall and the Legendary Hearts, releasing notable singles such as "Something to Live For" and "Life Could Be Worse". The band toured extensively for a decade before Bentall released his first solo album, Gin Palace, in 1995 and started a cattle farm in British Columbia in 1997. After almost a decade, he followed with his second album, Gift Horse, in 2006, followed by The Inside Passage (2009), Flesh and Bone (2012), and The Drifter and The Preacher (2017). Bentall collaborated with Shari Ulrich and Tom Taylor, forming the BTU trio in 2010. In 2016, they released a folk album titled Tightrope Walk.
