The synth-pop singer/songwriter Annie Hart was born in Long Island, New York, and launched her career in nearby Brooklyn, where she co-founded the keyboard-driven indie-pop band Au Revoir Simone in 2003. Along with bandmates Erika Forster and Heather D'Angelo, she appeared on Au Revoir Simone's four albums — 2005's Verses Of Comfort, Assurance & Salvation, 2007's The Bird Of Music, 2009's Still Night, Still Light, and 2013's Move In Spectrums — all of which showcased not only her talents as a multi-instrumentalist, but the strength of her voice, as well. Annie Hart also collaborated with indie artists outside of Au Revoir Simone's ranks, teaming up with members of Clap Your Hands Say Yeah for Uninhabitable Mansions — a multimedia side project whose debut album, Nature Is A Taker, was released in 2009 — and co-writing the song "Who Am I Now?" for Air's 2011 album, Le voyage dans la lune. After appearing with Forster and D'Angelo in two episodes of Twin Peaks' rebooted third season in 2017, Annie Hart began releasing solo material, starting with her debut album Impossible Accomplice in 2017. Released by Instant Records, the same record label that had issued Au Revoir Simone's Move In Spectrums, the album was followed by 2019's A Softer Offering.
