Oleg Mikhaylovich Gazmanov, born on 22 July 1951, in Gusev, is a Russian singer, composer, and producer. After graduating from the Kaliningrad Higher Marine Engineering School and the Kaliningrad Music School, Gazmanov performed with the ensemble Atlantik. Moving to Moscow in 1983, he composed for other artists and gained recognition with the 1988 song "Ljussi". He established a reputation as the leader of the group Eskadron, formed in 1989, and released his debut solo album Eskadron in 1991. His discography included the albums Moryachka (1993) and Zagulyal (1994), and he won the 1992 World Music Award for Best-Selling Russian Artist. In 1997, Gazmanov performed his first American tour and composed "Moskva", which became an unofficial anthem for the city. He was appointed a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador in 2002.
