Ilya Igorevich Lagutenko is a Russian singer, composer, and actor born on October 16, 1968, in Moscow. Following the death of his father, Lagutenko relocated to Vladivostok, where he eventually graduated from Far Eastern State University as a specialist in Mandarin and Chinese Economy. At age 11, he formed the psychedelic punk group “Boney P”. In 1983, he founded the rock band Mumiy Troll. Lagutenko received several honors during his career, including being named Man of the Year in November 2005 by Glamour and Musician of the Year by GQ on multiple occasions. In 2004, he appeared as a vampire in the film The Night Watch. He collaborated with the musician Svoy on the 2009 album Automatons, and he is a patron of the Amur tiger conservation partnership. He named the 2007 Mumiy Troll album Amba after an indigenous term for the Siberian tiger.
