Francisco Eller, known professionally as Chico Chico, was born on 28 August 1993 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and pursued a career as a singer. Raised by his mother Cássia Eller and stepmother Maria Eugênia, he began learning percussion and guitar in childhood and performed with his mother at the 2001 Rock in Rio festival. He adopted the stage name Chico Chico in 2015 and released his debut album 2x0 Vargem Alta with the band of the same name, marking his entry into the recording industry. In 2020 he issued the collaborative album Onde? with Francisco Gil, followed the next year by Chico Chico & João Mantuano, whose track "A Cidade" earned a Latin Grammy nomination for Best Portuguese‑Language Song. His first solo studio effort, Pomares (2021), was nominated for the Latin Grammy in the Best Brazilian Popular Music Album category in 2022. Subsequent releases included Estopim (2024) and the scheduled 2025 album Let it Burn/Deixa Arder. Throughout his career Chico Chico has worked with João Mantuano, Nando Reis, Maria Bethânia, and other Brazilian artists, contributed to soundtracks such as the 2022 Pantanal theme “Ribanceira”, and participated in tribute projects honoring his mother and Erasmo Carlos. His output blends pop with folk, blues, and samba influences, and he has maintained a steady presence in festivals and studio collaborations, solidifying his role in contemporary Brazilian music.
