Ekambi Brillant, born Ekambi Ekambi Louis Brillant on June 18, 1948, in Dibombari, Cameroon, was a singer and guitarist. His musical journey began by listening to piroguiers singing near Douala. In 1962, he was admitted to the Lycée Général-Leclerc de Yaoundé, where he learned guitar under professor Zane Daniel. Ekambi Brillant's breakthrough came in 1971 when he won a music competition organized by the French Radio and Television Broadcasting Office, leading to his first single "Djongele la N'Dolo". He moved to France in 1972 and released several successful singles. His album Africa Oumba, featuring the hit song "Elongi", sold approximately four million copies. Ekambi Brillant was awarded the Officer of the National Order of Merit in 2009. He passed away on December 12, 2022, at the age of 74.
