Rabah Driassa, born on August 19, 1934, in Blida, Algeria, was a singer and painter. After his parents' deaths, he supported his family as a glass engraver while pursuing painting. His music career began in 1953, writing songs for various artists and performing on radio shows like Men Koulfen Chouia. Driassa gained recognition for blending Alaoui and Sahraoui genres, earning the title "Nightingale of Algeria." Notable songs include "Yahya wlad bladi," "Nedjma Kotbia," and "Hizia." He toured extensively, representing Algerian music globally. In 1975, he performed at the Olympia in Paris. Driassa's impact on Algerian music was significant, with his songs often used to celebrate national events. His son Abdou also pursued a musical career. Driassa passed away on October 8, 2021.
