Hovet is a Swedish rock group formed in 2003 by musicians who had backed singer-songwriter Lars Winnerbäck. The band toured alongside Winnerbäck in 2001 when he recorded the live album ...Live för dig! (2001) and participated in recording his studio album Söndermarken (2003) in Denmark. In 2004, the members relocated to a rented house in Kisa to write 13 songs, subsequently recording their self-titled debut album Hovet (2004) in Stockholm over five days for release on their independent label Hovet Records, featuring artwork created by Winnerbäck. They later contributed to Winnerbäck's EP Stort liv (2005) and recorded two tracks for his compilation album Efter nattens bränder (2006), joining him on promotional tours for both projects. In 2007, Winnerbäck announced he would record Daugava (2007) without the group, with guitarist Johan Persson serving as the sole participating member.
