Jo Ann Kelly, born on January 5, 1944, in Streatham, South London, England, was an English blues singer and guitarist. Her early musical influences included artists like Elvis Presley and Little Richard. She learned her first guitar chords from her brother Dave Kelly. Kelly's career began with appearances on compilation albums, notably New Sounds in Folk (1966). Her debut solo album, Jo-Ann Kelly, was released in 1969 on CBS in the UK and Epic Records in the US. Throughout her career, she collaborated with various artists, including Tony McPhee and Pete Emery, and was a core member of the band Tramp alongside her brother Dave. She expanded to the European club circuit and continued releasing albums such as Do It (1976) and It's Whoopie (1978). Kelly's health declined in 1988 when she began suffering from headaches, leading to an operation for a malignant brain tumor in 1989. She passed away on October 21, 1990.
