Kieth Engen, born Keith Sheldon Engen on April 5, 1925 in Frazee, Minnesota, was an American operatic bass singer. He came from a musical family and developed his love for singing at a young age. Engen studied business administration at the University of California but pursued singing with Amy McMurray. After studying German language and literature in Zürich, he trained as an opera singer in Europe. Engen made his operatic debut in 1952 at the Graz Opera as Monterone in Rigoletto. He became a permanent member of Munich's Bavarian State Opera in 1955, performing over 125 roles until his retirement in 1996. Notable roles included Bluebeard in Bluebeard’s Castle, Count Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro, and Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte. He was awarded the title of Kammersänger in 1962 and received the Bavarian Order of Merit. Engen died on September 2, 2004, in Murnau am Staffelsee, Germany.
