Jean‑Jacques "Jack" Sels, born on January 29, 1922 in Antwerp, was a Belgian jazz musician and composer. After learning piano and switching to the saxophone, he formed a big band, debuting in 1949 with notable musicians such as Bobby Jaspar and Herman Sandy. In 1954, he recorded six tracks for Ronnex Records and performed with Nat King Cole, followed by a 1955 film score for Meeuwen sterven in de haven. Sels released Sax Appeal: The Sexy Sax of Sels & Swinging Friends in 1966. He died on March 21, 1970.
