Horia Moculescu, born on March 18, 1937, in Râmnicu Vâlcea, Romania, was a Romanian pianist, vocalist, composer, mediator, and TV program creator. He began playing accordion at age six and later showcased his musical talent during his time at Mihai Viteazul High School in Turda. Due to his "unhealthy social origins" under the communist regime, he was not admitted to the National University of Music in Bucharest but instead studied mining engineering at Petroșani University. Moculescu's musical career began when he started composing and performing in Bucharest restaurants and along the Black Sea coast. His first song, "De-ai fi tu salcie la mal", marked his entry into the music scene. In 1962, he released his debut singles, including "Norma Mia" and "Cosi Pallida". From 1963 to 1979, Moculescu led his own orchestra, performing extensively both domestically and internationally. Notable albums include Salcia - Melodii De Horia Moculescu (1976). He passed away on November 12, 2025, in Bucharest, Romania.
