Mathieu Salama, born on September 5, 1980, in Livry-Gargan, France, is a French countertenor. He began his musical education at the Conservatoire de Livry-Gargan and later moved to the Conservatoire national de Paris, initially focusing on French variety and jazz before transitioning to classical operatic singing. A trip to Venice led him to discover Baroque music and pursue a career as a countertenor. Salama released his debut album Airs de Castrats in 2014, followed by Résonances Baroques in 2016 and Vivaldi & Haendel in 2018. He gained recognition for being the first countertenor sopranist to perform Martin Palmeri's Misa Tango in Bordeaux in 2016. Salama has performed at prestigious venues such as the Sainte-Réparate Cathedral and the Church of the Madeleine, and his album Furioso Barocco was released in October 2020 under the Klarthe label.
