Michel Herr, born February 16, 1949 in Brussels, Belgium, is a jazz pianist, composer, and arranger. Herr's career began in 1970, and Herr toured internationally for many years accompanying harmonica player Toots Thielemans. As a leader and co-leader, Herr's recordings include Perspective - Musique ContemporainePopJazz (1978), Good Buddies (1979) with Bill Frisell, Continuous Flow (1980), Short Stories (1982), Meet Curtis Lundy & Kenny Washington (1983) with Steve Houben, and No, Maybe...! (1985). Herr's trio album Intuitions (1989) earned the Prix Sax 89 (B), and Herr's quintet album Notes of Life (1998) showcased Herr's quintet work. Herr's composition and arrangement work includes the film soundtrack Just Friends (1993) with Archie Shepp, a double big band album with the Brussels Jazz Orchestra titled The Music of Michel Herr (2008), and the album Positive / Music for Sextet and String Quartet (2019). Herr also wrote arrangements for Philip Catherine's album The String Project, which won an Echo Jazz Award in 2016.
