Leviticus is a Swedish Christian hard rock band formed in Skövde in 1981 by guitarist Björn Stigsson, drummer Kjell Andersson, and vocalist-bassist Håkan Andersson. Their breakthrough album, The Strongest Power (1985), earned international praise, with Kerrang! naming it among the year's best releases. Following lineup changes, the band released Setting Fire to the Earth in 1987 and later shifted from heavy metal to melodic AOR on Knights of Heaven (1989), produced by John and Dino Elefante. Throughout the 1980s, Leviticus toured extensively across Europe, the UK, North America, Australia, and the Soviet Union, supporting acts including Twisted Sister, Uriah Heep, Nazareth, and Larry Norman. After going on hiatus in the early 1990s, the band reunited several times from 2003 onward for festivals, anniversary concerts, and special performances while members pursued solo projects and production work.
