Aethernaeum is German extreme metal band from Berlin established in 2012. All active members also perform as members of dark metal band Eden weint im Grab. In April 2012, singer, guitarist, bassist, and keyboardist Alexander Paul Blake of Eden weint im Grab released debut studio recording Die Rückkehr ins Goldene Zeitalter. Blake recorded and produced the work entirely alone, subsequently renaming the project Aethernaeum and adding more musicians to form a full band. Their second studio recording, Wanderungen durch den Daemmerwald (2013), received critical acclaim, earning perfect scores in publications including Legacy, Metalglory, Metal Temple, and Sheol, as well as an eight out of ten rating in Rock Hard. In October 2015, the group released studio recording Naturmystik, which was accompanied by a music video for track “Heimreise (Ein Requiem)” directed by Rainer ZIPP Fränzen. They subsequently released single “Zwischen zwei Welten” (2016) featuring two new songs. Although the group disbanded in September 2017 following a final performance, they announced a revival in November 2025 with a revised lineup, working on a new studio album and plans to return to live performances.
