Françoise Lengellé, born in 1944 in France, was a harpsichordist known for her contributions to classical music. She studied at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris, earning first prizes in harpsichord and chamber music. In 1977, she won second prize at the International Harpsichord Competition during the Festival Musica Antiqua in Bruges. Lengellé performed extensively across Europe, the United States, Japan, and Iceland. She taught at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Lyon until 2010 and as a guest professor at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Notable recordings include Charpentier: Leçons de ténèbres with Ensemble Gradiva, Véronique Dietschy, Marianne Muller, Alain Zaepffel and Yasunori Imamura (Adda, 1990, reissued by Adès in 1997 and Accord in 2004) and Rameau: Pièces de clavecin en concerts with Chiara Banchini and Marianne Muller (Lindoro, 2002). In 2008, she was named a Chevalier of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres. Lengellé passed away on November 2, 2025.
