Deniz Tek, born on November 10, 1952 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, is a singer, guitarist and founding member of Australian rock group Radio Birdman. Raised near Detroit, Tek was influenced by local music icons like MC5 and The Stooges. He moved to Sydney in 1972 for medical studies. After joining TV Jones, he formed Radio Birdman with Rob Younger in 1974. The band released their debut EP Burn My Eye in 1976. Following the group's breakup in 1978, Tek played with The Visitors and participated in the New Race tour in 1981. He returned to Australia in 1991 and formed The Deniz Tek Group, releasing albums such as Outside (1994), Equinox (1998), 3 Assassins (2004) and Detroit (2013). In 2007, Tek was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame.
