Manuel Sánchez López, known as Manuel Malou, was born on January 1, 1961, in San Clemente, Cuenca, Spain. He is a flamenco rumba singer, music producer, guitarist, and composer. He moved to Paris before his first birthday and won a flamenco festival prize at eight years old. His initial discographic experience came in Madrid with the duo Los Golfos, achieving success with their single "¡Qué pasa contigo tío!". In 1978, they formed Manolo y Jorge, and later Malou joined Plástico, a new wave group. He then formed Toreros After Olé, releasing a mini-LP in 1983. Returning to Paris in 1985, Malou began his solo career with "Extraños seres" (Polydor France) in 1990. Notable collaborations include working with Papa Wemba and Cheb Khaled at the Womad festival in Reading, UK, and composing for Tokiko Kato's "Guitarrista" on her album Cypango. Malou composed the soundtrack for the film Gazon Maudit in 1995.
