Philippe Bernold is a French flutist and conductor born on 8 September 1960 in Colmar. He studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris and was appointed principal flutist of the Orchestre de l'Opéra national de Lyon at the age of 23. Bernold achieved professional recognition in 1987 after winning the first prize at the Concours international Jean-Pierre Rampal. His discography includes more than twenty recordings, such as the studio albums Caprice (2008) and Mozart: Concerto pour flûte et harpe (2016). He has also authored the musical method books La Technique d'embouchure (1990) and Le souffle, le son (2018). He has performed as a soloist and conductor with ensembles including the Sinfonia Varsovia and the Orchestre de chambre de Paris.
