Marco Ambrosini is an Italian musician, composer, and arranger born on June 17, 1964, in Forlì, Italy. Ambrosini is known for playing the nyckelharpa and contributions to early and contemporary music. Ambrosini studied violin, viola, and composition at institutions including the Instituto Musicale G.B. Pergolesi in Ancona and the conservatory G. Rossini in Pesaro. In 1982, Ambrosini co-founded the international ensemble Oni Wytars with Peter Rabanser. A solo debut included performances at venues such as the theatre Alla Scala in Milan and Carnegie Hall in New York. Throughout a career spanning decades, Ambrosini collaborated with various ensembles including Katharco Early Music Consort and L'Arpeggiata, and released over 150 CDs. Notable compositions include the musical theater productions Emperors Coronation (1993) and La Divina Commedia (1995). In 2014, Ambrosini released the album Inventio (2014) with Jean-Louis Matinier on ECM Records.
