Kevin Brown, born in 1950 in Bamber Bridge, Preston, Lancashire, England, is a British blues guitarist and singer who was inspired by Sister Rosetta Tharpe and Muddy Waters at fourteen. After studying at Dartington College and Rolle College, he moved to Somerset, where he worked as an art teacher before pursuing music professionally. His first albums Road Dreams (1982) and Rust (1988) earned critical acclaim, with the latter receiving a British Blues Foundation nomination for best blues album of the year. Brown followed with Time Marches On (1993), Sunny Side Up (1999), and Mojave Dust (2002), and collaborated with Moussa Kouyate on Kora Blues (2004). Forming Shackdusters with Gary Rudd, they released Home and Dry (2011) and Home for Christmas (2012). Brown’s 2015 live‑in‑studio album Grit features "Lancashire Blood on a Texas Floor" and "The Ballad of J. J. Cale".
