Jon Kimura Parker, born on December 25, 1959, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, is a pianist. He began his musical studies at age four and later studied under notable instructors including Adele Marcus. Parker's breakthrough came in 1984 when he won the Leeds International Pianoforte Competition at the age of 24. Throughout his career, he has performed as a soloist with leading orchestras worldwide, including the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Cleveland Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic. He has also toured extensively, performing for notable figures such as Queen Elizabeth II and the Prime Minister of Japan. In 1996, he received the National Arts Centre Award, and in 1999, he was made an Officer of the Order of Canada. Parker's recordings include works by Chopin, Tchaikovsky, and Prokofiev, released on labels such as CBC Records and Telarc.
