The Pasdeloup Orchestra is a Parisian symphony orchestra founded in 1861 by conductor Jules Pasdeloup as the Concerts Populaires. It is the oldest active non-profit orchestra in Paris and was created to bring classical music to a wider public through affordable Sunday concerts. Its inaugural performance at the Cirque d’Hiver featured works by Weber, Beethoven, Mendelssohn, and Haydn, helping establish the orchestra as a major force in promoting German repertoire and French symphonic music. Revived in 1919 by Serge Sandberg, the ensemble later became the Association des Concerts Pasdeloup, managed by its musicians. The orchestra has performed at major venues including the Philharmonie de Paris, Salle Pleyel, and La Seine Musicale, while exploring symphonic, theatrical, and ballet projects. It has worked regularly with conductor Wolfgang Doerner since 1987.
