Bird of Ill Omen was an American sludge-metalcore band formed in 1996 by Damien Zev Moyal, who served as the vocalist and guitarist. Initially known as Fork in the Road, the group originated from North Miami, Florida, where Moyal had already established himself in the hardcore punk scene with bands like U.S. Decline and Insist. Bird of Ill Omen's debut album, Self, Dare You Still Breathe?, was released in 1998, marking their entry into the sludge-metalcore genre. Moyal's lyrics, which he wrote during his time with the band, were later used by Bird of Ill Omen's second vocalist for material released by Eulogy Recordings.
