Piet Van Bockstal, born in 1963 in Deinze, Belgium, is an oboist and composer. He studied at the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles, earning First Prizes in oboe, English horn, and chamber music. Van Bockstal became the principal oboist at the Orchestre Philharmonique des Flandres in January 1985, a position he held for eight years. Throughout his career, he has performed over 40 oboe concertos with orchestras worldwide, including the Orchestre National de Belgique and the Czech Virtuosi. He has also collaborated extensively in chamber music ensembles such as Ictus and Spectra, contributing to the creation of more than 60 contemporary works.
