Other Dimensions In Music is an American free jazz group founded in 198os, comprising trumpeter Roy Campbell Jr., multi-instrumentalist Daniel Carter, bassist William Parker, and drummer Rashid Bakr. The quartet emerged from the collaboration of Campbell, Parker, and Bakr within Jemeel Moondoc’s group Muntu, with Carter joining to form Other Dimensions In Music. Their debut album, Other Dimensions in Music, was released in 1990 on Silkheart Records. The group's third album, Time Is of the Essence Is Beyond Time (2000), featured a live collaboration with pianist Matthew Shipp. Subsequent releases included Live at the Sunset (2007) and Kaiso Stories (2011). They were known for their entirely improvised music, which often incorporated melodic elements unexpected in free jazz.
