The Silents, an Australian rock band from Perth, Western Australia, were formed in 2002 by Lloyd Stowe and Jamie Terry. Influenced by early 60s psychedelic music, they recruited Sam Ford on bass and Alex Hayes on drums in late 2003. Their debut EP, Flicker and Flames, released in 2006, featured the single "Nightcrawl", which received significant airplay on Triple J. The Silents toured extensively with The Exploders and were nominated for Most Promising New Act at the 2006 WAMi Awards. In April 2007, they signed to Ivy League Records and released their debut album, Things to Learn, in March 2008. The following year saw drummer Alex Hayes replaced by Mike Jelinek, and the band parted ways with Ivy League Records. Their second album, Sun A Buzz, was recorded independently and released in June 2010.
