Tijuana Cartel is an electronic music group from Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. The group was formed in 2003 by Paul George and Carey O'Sullivan. Their debut self-titled EP Tijuana Cartel (2003) introduced a blend of electronic and world-music elements, followed by the EP Frequent Flyers and the debut album Frequent Flyers Redeemed (2007), which features flamenco guitar and electronic textures. Subsequent releases include the albums They'll Come (2009), M1 (2011), 24 Bit Guitar Orchestra (2014), Psychedelicatessen (2015), Live at Hotel Brunswick (2018), Bhairavi's Garden (2019), Acid Pony (2021), and Alectura (2023). The group won Live Act of the Year at the Gold Coast Music Awards in 2018, 2020, and 2022. They received nominations for Live Act of the Year and Video of the Year for the song “Minimal Stuffing” in 2021, and won Video of the Year for “Believe in Nothing” in 2024. Their album Acid Pony reached number 18 on the Australian Independent Record Labels Association Independent Albums chart.
