The Wooden Birds, a band from Austin, Texas, was formed in 2008 and led by Andrew Kenny. The group initially featured Leslie Sisson on lead guitar/vocals and Sean Haskins on drums. Their debut full-length album, Magnolia, released on Barsuk Records (United States/Canada) and Morr Music (Europe) in 2009, garnered attention from publications such as Pitchfork Media, Spin, and The Washington Post. The track "Sugar" earned NPR's Song of the Day. Following their record release, they performed with a total of 100 live shows in less than a year, including appearances at SXSW and tours across Europe and the United States with acts like Grand Archives and Other Lives. In 2011, they released their second album, Two Matchsticks. Former members included David Wingo and Michael Bell.
