Carmen Giannattasio

Carmen Giannattasio, born 24 April 1975 in Avellino, Italy, is an Italian operatic soprano who studied at the Conservatorio Domenico Cimarosa and later at the Accademia di Perfezionamento of La Scala. She notably appeared as Mimi in La Boheme at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, in 2012. The same year, she debuted as Leonora in Il Trovatore at the Metropolitan Opera and as Violetta in La Traviata in Naples. She also released Bellini: Il Pirata in 2012. Giannattasio earned the first‑place audience award at Operalia in 2002 and was appointed Knight of the Order of the Star of the Italian Republic in 2017.
