Wim De Craene, born Willem Marcel De Craene on July 30, 1950, in Ghent, Belgium, was a Flemish Belgian singer. He began his career performing with the Flemish folk band Ja before being mentored by Miel Cools in the early '70s. His breakthrough came with hits such as "Rozane" (1975) and "Tim" (1975). De Craene released several albums, including Brussel (1975), Perte Totale (1980), and Via Dolorosa (1988). He also wrote his first musical, Help, ik win een miljoen, and participated in Belgium's Eurovision pre-selection contest twice. De Craene incorporated various genres into his sound, including pop, rock, disco, and new wave. His final album was released two years before his death on September 14, 1990. Posthumously, De Craene has gained more recognition, receiving awards such as the Golden Lifetime Awards in 2022 and various tributes from Flemish artists.
