Burnin Red Ivanhoe, a Danish jazz‑rock group formed in Copenhagen in 1967, made their first appearance as the Burning Red Ivanhoes in 1968. Their debut double LP M 144 was released by Sonet in 1969, showcasing a proto‑progressive sound influenced by blues and jazz. The band stabilized with Jess Stæhr on bass and toured nationally and abroad until a brief split in 1972, after which they regrouped to release Right On in 1974, featuring new keyboardist Kenneth Knudsen. Subsequent albums include Shorts (1980), Lack of Light (1998), and B.R.I. (2013). highlighted their enduring collaboration. Burnin Red Ivanhoe has remained active in live performances, sustaining a notable presence in Denmark’s jazz fusion scene.
