Born in Erlangen, Bavaria in 1972, Xenia Löffler is a German oboist who best-known as the principal oboist for the Akademie für Alte Musik, the renowned ensemble that performs baroque music on period instruments. She is also the co-founder of the Wind Octet Amphion. Xenia Löffler studied music at the Schola Cantorum in Basel and at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, before founding the wind ensemble Amphion Wind Octet in 1998 for a series of recordings and concerts. They have released 10 albums over the course of their career. In 2001, she joined the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin and rose to prominence as their main oboe soloist. She began teaching at the University of Bremen in 2004 and frequently gave master classes. Xenia Löffler has recorded for the Accent, Harmonia Mundi, and Supraphon labels and her releases include Concerto (Venice: The Golden Age) (2014), Handel: My Favorite Instrument (2015), Bach: Oboe Concertos & Cantatas (2018), and The Oboe in Dresden (2019), which was honored with a Diapason d'or.
