Slint was an American rock band from Louisville, Kentucky, formed in 1986 following the dissolution of two local bands, Squirrel Bait and Maurice. The group initially consisted of guitarist and vocalist Brian McMahan, guitarist David Pajo, drummer and vocalist Britt Walford, and bassist Ethan Buckler. The band's debut album, Tweez, was recorded by Steve Albini and released in 1989 on Jennifer Hartman Records. Buckler left the group due to dissatisfaction with the album and was replaced by bassist Todd Brashear. In 1991, the group released its second and final album, Spiderland, on Touch and Go Records, but disbanded prior to its release. Spiderland became one of the most acclaimed indie rock releases of the 1990s. Following the breakup, the label released an untitled EP (1994) featuring songs recorded between their two albums.
