Das Ding, a pop-punk band from Stuttgart, Germany, was formed in 1993. The group initially gained attention with their EP Brainsucker, released in 1993, featuring WIZO's singer Axel Kurth as a guest guitarist. The band was the opening act at many JBO concerts between 1996 and 1998. Their first full-length album, Blöd genug für diese Welt, was released in 1997 under Empty Records. The title track "Blöd genug für diese Welt" appeared on the 1998 compilation album ...und Spaß dabei! Der ultimative Partysampler by JBO, as well as on other compilations such as Empty Records Sampler II and Knuddelpunk 1. The band disbanded in 1999 for unknown reasons.
