Capella Cracoviensis, founded in Kraków in 1970 by Stanisław Gałoński on the initiative of Kraków Philharmonic director Jerzy Katlewicz, is a chamber choir and period-instrument orchestra specializing in historically informed performance. Gałoński led the ensemble until 2008, when Jan Tomasz Adamus became its general and artistic director; guest conductors have included Christophe Rousset, Vincent Dumestre, Andrew Parrott, Paul Goodwin, Paul McCreesh and Fabio Bonizzoni. Its repertoire ranges from Renaissance polyphony and Polish early music through Bach, Handel, Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven and Schubert to early Romantic opera and oratorio, with major projects including the complete Beethoven symphonies on historical instruments and Haydn’s complete symphonies.
