Giovanni di Domenico, born July 20, 1977, in Rome, Italy, is an Italian pianist, improvisational musician, and composer. His childhood in Libya, Cameroon, and Algeria influenced his musical style. After studying piano and composition, he joined the European improvised music scene, collaborating with artists such as Nate Wooley, Chris Corsano, and Arve Henriksen. His discography includes the collaborative album Clinamen (2010), recorded with Henriksen and Tatsuhisa Yamamoto, followed by Ghibli (2011) with Alexandra Grimal, and Sounds Good (2012) with Oriol Roca. He also collaborated with Akira Sakata on the album Iruman (2013), and with Nate Wooley and Hugo Antunes on Posh Scorch (2013). Subsequent releases include The Ear Cannot Be Filled with Hearing (2018), Ater (2020), Tidal Perspectives (2024), Sakuraza (2024), and Shakkei (2025). He has also worked with Jim O'Rourke, Toshimaru Nakamura, and Tetuzi Akiyama. He is based in Brussels.
